Local · Bilingual · On paper
Local news, one folded sheet at a time.
Cerveza News is a bilingual print newsletter for Mazatlán: short, useful pieces, a puzzle for the table, and clearly marked ad boxes from neighbors you can actually walk into. It is being relaunched right now, and this site brings readers and local businesses together as the archive is restored.
English and Spanish share the page, because the people around a table often speak both. The sheet is meant to be picked up, read in a few minutes, and left for the next person.

How a sheet is put together
A Cerveza News is one sheet, folded: a front and a back, each with an upper and a lower panel. Every box has a job and stays in the same place from one sheet to the next, so readers know where to look and advertisers know what they are buying.
- Front, upper panel: the masthead and a lead piece.
- Front, lower panel: something practical, plus an ad box.
- Back, upper panel: a puzzle and a little trivia for the table.
- Back, lower panel: community notes and another ad box.
The sampler follows this layout using original sample content and labelled placeholders.

What we hold ourselves to
Principles, in brief
Useful before clever. If a piece does not help someone eat, go, do or understand something, it does not need to be on the sheet.
Bilingual from the start. Both languages are written for the page, not bolted on afterward.
Ads look like ads. Paid boxes are boxed and labelled, and they never pose as reporting.
Checked before printed. Dates, places and names get verified. Photos need permission. Mistakes get corrected where readers will see them.
